Executive Assistant to County Manager

$53,906 Minimum Starting Salary
(May be higher based on experience)

The primary responsibility of this position is to provide executive level support to the County Manager, including supervision of office staff.  This position will assist in the development, coordination and execution of the County’s communications strategy.  This position will provide assistance to the County Manager in carrying out the directives of the County Council.  Duties assigned include(but not limited to) implementing policies and procedures, identifying problems and developing solutions, making recommendations to the County Manager, dealing with the legislative process to include direction to Department Heads and serving as legislative liaison as required, working to ensure all external county communications are in alignment with county priorities, initiatives and strategies, assisting County Manager with budget research, developing and managing press releases, taking minutes at Council meetings when necessary, performing  public information officer duties during emergencies and reporting to the Emergency Operations Center when required.

Education:  HS/GED   Degree in Public or Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Accounting or closely related field is required. (Related administrative/management experience on a year for year basis may be substituted for a degree.)

Experience: Five (5) years of administrative management experience is required.
Prefer minimum of three (3) years of the above five (5) years be in local, state, or regional government.  Prefer two (2) years of the above five (5) years also include supervision of employees and managing of communications.
